WARNING! SPOILERS FOR ‘THE RISE OF SKYWALKER’ ARE IN THIS POST! IF YOU WANT TO REMAIN SPOILER FREE THEN “MOVE ALONG, MOVE ALONG.”
The concept of Force Dyad will be introduced in “Star Wars: Episode 9.” Palpatine will explain that the Force creates two powerful people in the galaxy, who can become even more powerful when they join forces, and their power will be far greater than what they could be individually. Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren are these two people who form the dyad.

Since Then Last Jedi’ I have speculated that Rey and Kylo would have some huge connection within the Force, not just their Force Bond that we saw in ‘The Last Jedi’ but that the two of them were the two sodas of the Force Coin, Kylo representing the Dark and Rey the Light and the two of them would maintain the Balance of the Force.
To say that I was patting myself on the back about that theory is a bit too far, but when I first heard about the Dyad concept I did have a moment of mild self-congratulations because I was kind of, almost, sort of right… ish.
But this makes a whole tonne of sense and if you look at both They Force Awakens’ and ‘The Last Jedi’ you can see the seeds being planted (and people don’t think this stuff was planned). Just look at the moments where Rey and Kylo are physically together in a location and how powerful they both become. Their powers expand and they are able to pull off incredible feats.
In ‘The Force Awakens’ it’s when the two are together that leads Rey to unlock her abilities. Hell, she even fends off Kylo’s mind invasion and sees things about him, then Mind Tricks the Daniel Craig Stormtrooper, with NO TRAINING!!!
Rey pulling the Legacy Saber to her hand in the forest on Starkiller Base is another example, as well as her connecting to the Force during her duel with Kylo before the planet began splitting apart between the two of them. As Snoke said he was “bested by a girl who had never held a lightsaber!”
Their Force Skype conversations are another aspect of this concept. We have never seen this before and I doubt we will again because how many other Dyads will we see in the future? Probably none, but that’s not a bad thing.
And of course, Kylo masking his intentions from Snoke. I get the feeling that this would not have been remotely possible for him had Rey not been there, according to the Dyad.
This concept is incredibly intriguing and adds a great new element to the Force. And if rumours are true and that Palpatine uses this Force Dyad to siphon their power to rejuvenate himself then I get the feeling that their power will make Palpatine a Force to be reckoned with.
Of course we will have to see how it all plays out in the film but I can honestly say that I can’t wait.
